ThoughtOrb – Privacy Policy

ThoughtOrb (“the App”) is a VR meditation application developed by taskruru (“we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

• Device Identifier: A unique device ID provided by the Meta Quest platform. This is used solely for rate limiting API requests.
• Voice Recordings: When you use the recording feature, your voice is temporarily processed through our server for speech-to-text transcription. Audio data is not stored on our servers after processing.
• Transcribed Text: The text generated from your speech is sent to our server for AI processing (semantic segmentation and question generation). This text is not permanently stored on our servers.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

Your thought data (transcribed text, summaries, and cognitive mode analysis) is stored locally on your device in encrypted form (AES-256-CBC). This data never leaves your device except temporarily during AI processing as described above.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide speech-to-text transcription
• To generate AI-powered thought analysis and guiding questions
• To enforce rate limits and prevent abuse of our API services
• To verify subscription status through the Meta Quest platform

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Meta Quest Platform: For app distribution, entitlement verification, and subscription management.
• OpenAI API: For speech recognition and AI text processing. Only transcribed text is sent to OpenAI; no device identifiers or personal information are included. Please refer to OpenAI’s Privacy Policy for details.

5. Data Retention

• Device Identifier: Stored in our server database for rate limiting. Automatically purged when no longer needed.
• Voice and Text Data: Processed in real-time and not permanently stored on our servers.
• Local Data: Stored on your device until you choose to delete it through the App’s settings menu.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encrypted local storage (AES-256-CBC) and secure HTTPS communication between the App and our servers.

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your Rights

You can delete all locally stored thought data at any time through the App’s settings menu. Since we do not permanently store your personal content on our servers, there is no server-side data to request deletion of.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
